For the
last few years I have been plaiting quality leather leads. I
have been shown how to do this time honoured tradition by a
Master Plaiter. I use only the finest quality leather thonging
and depending on the availability of coloured kangaroo skin,
cut and prepare my own coloured thonging.
I make show
or obedience leads, using either 4 or 6 thong strands wrapped
around a nylon core for added durability. I use the best snaphooks
available either in brass or nickle plated.

This is
a red and black obedience lead made from 4 stands red kangaroo
thonging and two strands of whip thonging to add a contrasting
colour to the pattern. It is plaited around a 5mm nylon core
and is fitted with a 20 mm brass snaphook.

This
is my labour of love. A head halter made up from 6 thong flat
plat for the headpiece, 4 thong round plait for the tension
and 4 thong flat for the attachments. Fittings include brass
O ring and D rings, click snaps and slide keepers.

This is
my small lead for everyday use. This is using whip thonging
which is slightly heavier than the coloured thonging. It has
a 5mm nylon core for added durability and a heavy G style clamp
instead of the standing snap hook fitting. This lead is too
short for the obedience ring, but is very useful when walking
in crowded areas.
